Top 5 things to take with you to a Music Festival

So you've read my other guides on the top tips for you’re camping at music festivals, but now you need to know the top things to take with you for your festival experience.

If you are new to music festivals or if you have been going to a few over the years but still think that you could do something to be more comfortable during your time there? Then search no more, because here are the top ten items that you must have, especially if you are at the festival for the duration and camping over the weekend. Let’s begin;

1. Sun cream

The dangers of too much sun are well known now and UV rays aren't things to make friends with. At music festivals or anywhere you're likely to be outside for a long period of time you will have mass exposure to those rays, so it's best to have some protection. You don't want to get sun burn and the links from too much sun and skin cancer are very strong, so apply liberally. If you're at a festival it's a good idea to wear lots of sun cream, and I like to use the ones that come in spray form, to jus spray-rub-go. It won't come off during the summer heat and you won't get a nasty burn if you remember to re-apply every few hours.

2. Headlamp

They look like something you'd find at a geek convention, but the benefits outweigh their silly looks. You'll find that a headlamp proves to be priceless when it comes to those midnight trips to the toilet, and hopelessly trying to get back to find your tent. They need not be 1,000,000 candle power as you're not trying to see everything in the whole camp site, but just enough to get illuminate what you need, even in your tent.

3. Toilet Paper

Toilet paper is one of those things that is always needed but never remembered. It's not really a topic that anyone wants to bring up around the table either, but all the best festival goers know that you should never leave home without a couple of rolls of Andrex from home. The toilets at festivals are often prone to running out of paper with some greedy people taking a handful for later, and even when there is a nice supply you can bet the quality will be that of the tracing paper you used at school. Toilet paper has many uses too, for facial wipes, to cleaning cookware, to fixing a bloody nose.

4. Baby/Wet Wipes

Smooth and scented, and that's just me! I jest, baby wipes are for all, regardless of the 'baby' part in the title. Wet wipes and other wipes can really give your face a fresher feeling that will stay with you all day long. Your hair on the other hand will still look like a birds nest, at at least you won't pong. Wet wipes and baby wipes can get to all areas when a hot shower just isn't on the menu.

5. A First Aid Kit

All of the best, and legal music festivals, will have some kind of first aid service on site (or they should by law) and an ambulance on call, so that if the worst happens, there will be someone there to help. They won't treat little things like headaches because they probably see a million people a day with one, but they might have water to help with your dehydration if you haven't taken your own. Sometimes the walk over and the wait isn't worth it if you only need a plaster for your finger etc. Save the hassle and take your own simple first aid kit, one that has some paracetamol, plasters, hay fever tablets and your favourite hangover cure.
