5 More Essentials to take with you to Music Festivals6. Cheap CameraI have heard that some festivals won't even let you through the door without a camera. I'm joking, again, but a camera is a serious memory bank, holding all your happy times for later withdrawals. A few festivals will have rules on the type of camera you can take for example they won't let you in with some pro filming gear, so best to leave your directors cap and video camera at home. All festivals will let you take a standard camera though for taking snapshots whenever you can. That said though, you will want to take a camera that is both light and cheap - providing you're not there to take photos for brochures or other high quality print. A couple of disposable cameras or a cheap digital camera will set you off on a good start. 7. Liquids (bottled water, sports drinks)If the festival you're attending will let you take your own drinks, then do it. Really, you'll be amazed with how much water you can get through. You will need to take a good few bottles as staying hydrated is very important. Remember that if you're dancing like a penguin on hot coals that you will sweat a lot, so try to keep all your essential minerals in check (salt, potassium, magnesium, calcium etc.). Take foods rich in minerals like this, or drink isotonic drinks. 8. A cooler of some sortA couple of festivals won't let you take your own coolers so you will need to check before hand that you can take them in. The smaller ones (that are best suited for the day) feature a shoulder strap that will let you easily walk around with a few drinks and a sandwich etc. If you are there for the long haul then you may need to take something that is a bit bigger and more suited for the weekend with a storage capacity that rivals your home fridge. These coolers have handles and wheels and also make great seating and we here love anything that has a dual purpose at a festival. 9. Chairs and BlanketsAt one time or another you will probably want to sit down and just take in the festival atmosphere. Some festivals won't let you bring a chair, but a few will, so it is best to check. You can get a nice little 'fishing stool' at a pound shop if you're lucky, but it won't be the most comfortable thing you've ever sat on, but that being said, it won't be bad. If you are like me and like to lounge then I would suggest a blanket, one that can be easily replaced if it gets dirty or torn. 10. A backpackIf you have your cooler sorted for your drinks, some food and some sun cream then you will need something to carry everything else. Make sure you have a bag that provides good room for everything you need but travel light; you don't want a sore back for the entire music event. You won't need three pairs of shoes and 4 pairs of jeans, be sensible, fool. If you can, find a backpack that has little zipped compartments for things like your purse and your phone and so you know where everything is in case of an emergency. |
